Combatant Major General Rodrigo Pereira Vergara
Major General Rodrigo Pereira Vergara comes from the Army 5th Artillery Division, located in Curitiba, state of Paraná. He was promoted to the current rank on March 31st, 2017.
He joined the Army on February 25th, 1984.
MG Vergara graduated from the Military Academy on December 12th, 1987 as an Artillery Officer Candidate. In 1995, he attended the Captains Career Course and the Army Command and General Staff Course from 2001 to 2002.
MG Vergara commanded the 11th Air Defense Battalion, in Brasilia Federal District and was an instructor at the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College and at the Air Defense and Seacoast Artillery School.
He was an attaché at the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington, USA, and attended the Politics and Strategy Course at the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States of America.
MG Vergara was also Deputy Chief of Staff for the Brazilian Army Commander.
As a General, MG Vergara currently commands the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College.
Among his awards are the Order of Military Merit, Commander grade; Order of Defense Merit, officer grade; Order of Military Judicial Merit, High Distinction grade; Military Gold Medal and the Golden Command Badge.
